Class Descripton

Join us for a special Printmaking Class in honor of beloved art teacher Gary Bargell. Whether you were once in Mr. Bargell’s art class or are simply curious about the art of printmaking, this is a welcoming space for all skill levels to explore, create, and connect. Have a linocut from high school tucked away in a drawer? Bring it along and give it new life as we revisit and reimagine past work through hands-on printmaking. Guests are also invited to enjoy Bargell’s gallery exhibit on the 2nd floor, celebrate with family and friends, and honor the lasting impact of art education in our community. This event is presented in partnership with the North Platte Public Schools Foundation, with a free will donation encouraged to support future arts programming. What is Lino Cut Printing? Lino cut printing is a form of relief printmaking where an image is carved into a linoleum block. The artist cuts away the areas they don't want to print, leaving the desired design raised. Ink is then applied to the raised surface, and paper is pressed onto the block to transfer the image. This technique offers a versatile and relatively easy-to-learn method for creating multiple copies of an original artwork with a unique, slightly textured look.
