Fire Within
Mike Fluent

Fire Within was created by Mike Fluent, an artist from Wayne, NE. This stunning sculpture of metal and blown glass was sourced from the Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska. A group dedicated to bringing the beauty of art to communities across Nebraska. This piece was purchased with a generous grant from Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. We are so thrilled to add it to our collection.

Heartland

The Heartland, painted by artist Paula Yoachim, was donated to the Prairie Arts Center by former North Platte resident and art lover Rhonda Seacrest.  Seacrest purchased the heart at the " Nebraska by Heart" auction in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The event celebrated Nebraska’s 150th Anniversary.  The 89 hearts sculptures were painted by area artists and auctioned off as a fundraiser for their two sponsoring organizations: Lead Up and Sadie Dog Fund.   Yoachim of Bellevue, Nebraska says, "My work is intended to be narrative, imaginative and fun.  Over the years I have been influenced by the ideas of my favorite painting movement:  Surrealism and strive to combine objects in an unexpected way. I find inspiration in the details of Victorian era architecture, the beauty of nature, and the creative possibilities of dreams. The whimsical combination of subject matter is used as a metaphor for events in my life or to illustrate favorite childhood stories.  For the past 27 years I have enjoyed Painting and teaching Art to all ages of students. The work I do with kids everyday reminds me that with Art anything is really possible and a wild imagination is a good gift to have.
